We are super excited to announce that our popular All Kinds Soap Offcuts Selection has been awarded a Best Buy - Body & Bath in the Green Parent’s Natural Beauty Awards. Three cheers for our waste hero!

All about our beautifully wonky handmade soap

The All Kinds Soap Offcuts Selection is our “no frills” option, great value natural handmade soap which is unstamped, unwrapped and crucially, not always quite physically perfect. In the true spirit of sustainability, these soaps are completely “come as they are” - a mix of shapes, sizes and scents, with a wonky edge or rippled face.

We’re so pleased to have received the best buy award - and it really is that. A great value way to stock up on handmade soap for you and your household, without compromising ethics or quality.

Ready to join our zero waste mission?

Soap Folk is always on a zero waste mission and as our soap production has increased over the last couple of years, so have the number of offcuts. We make our soap in a large mould and then cut down to size. Obviously we do all we can minimise waste in the first place. As part of the making process and the fact that we are working with natural ingredients, not every soap in each batch is completely physically perfect. It might have a wonky edge for instance, which makes it hard to wrap, or perhaps it dropped too much weight as it cured on the shelves. Rather than waste these offcuts, we decided to bundle them as our All Kinds.

We have been building a reputation for beautiful handmade soap, so we were a little nervous of the reaction to our wonkies, but we really needn’t have worried. Our All Kinds customers are totally on board with the idea that nothing should go to waste and we’ve had some wonderful feedback. It seems some of you even prefer these characterful soap chunks and slices!

What next for our All Kinds Soap Offcuts?

Earlier this year, we revamped our packaging and began using a compostable and recyclable paper, making it easy to send out to our online customers. Local customers, however, will often arrive at the Soapery with a bag or tub for a loose packaging option. We also began a subscription service, with customers choosing between, once a month or once every 2 or 3 months intervals. It's also be pleasing to see how many all kinds are sold as gifts, so much so we've actually included it in our line-up of handmade soap gift sets. This really proves the point that zero waste products can also be completely desirable.
